Excelsior II vs Raithby I

Boom! Bam! Thank you, mam! Thanks for coming, Raithby! A major upset in the league! Our boys stood strong!

Raithby I was put into bat and could only muster 101 all out by the 33rd over. Only their opening batsmen showed some sort of resistance with R Bastra (36) and J Johnson (20). The rest fell to brilliant bowling by N Jacobs (21/4) and R Pool (28/3).

Excelsior II batsman showed composure to successfully chase the low total by the 28th over obtaining a bonus point as well. Our top scorers were H Valentyn (26), D Kleinhans (21) and quick 19 from 12 balls from F Rhoda.

Excelsior I vs Excelsior II

The match played on Saturday 18 January 2020 turned out good for Excelsior I.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Excelsior I team scored 313/5 in the allotted 50 overs with Y Khan top-scoring with 83 off 93 balls and supported by A Ras (63 not out off 54) and C Krediet (36 not out off 36 balls).

Excelsior II replied with 169 all out in the 35th over with T Carolus top-scoring with a nifty 39 not out off 29 balls and F Rhoda 32 off 26 balls. The destroyer, L Julies, featured with the ball. The younster took 5 wickets in 8 overs for only 19 runs.

Excelsior I obtained a bonus point win and one step closer in challenging for the league title.

Excelsior I vs Wemmershoek I

A fantastic win for Excelsior I! They are flying! Stunning, hard work and a brilliant start to 2020!

The match started on a sunny Franschoek day on 11 January 2020. The Wemmershoek I won the toss and elected to field first.

Excelsior I started off well with S Sederman and Y Johnson dominating the proceedings, batting straight through to reach an opening partnership of 282. Y Johnson falling first, 4 short of a brilliant century. S Sederman followed soon after on 149. At this stage, the score was 283/2 after the 38 overs. The onslaught carried on with J Schreuder reaching 62. Excelsior I finished on 414/5 after the allotted 50 overs.

Wemmershoek I started off poorly losing their first wicket on 11 runs. They did not show much resistance as the Excelsior I team knocked them over for a mere 82 runs. A triple nelson win for Excelsior I. Well done, boys!

The unstoppable force of the Excelsior I team was too much for the Wemmershoek team. The match was played in great spirit and we wish them well.

Excelsior II vs Drakenstein EDU

A tough day in the office for Excelsior II.

Excelsior II batted first and Drakenstein EDU had the upper hand early when Excelsior II lost their first 3 wickets with the score on 15. The Excelsior II team lost wickets on a regular basis with K Poole the only batsman to show resistance with a score of 44. The total ended on 123 all out.

It was a tough task to defend 123 against the current log leaders and with 41 extras, the Drakenstein EDU team successfully chased the total by the 22nd over.
