Excelsior II vs Raithby I
Excelsior II fell short.
In the so-called final of the T20 league, Excelsior II needed to beat Raithby I to go through to the final. This was not to be.
Batting first on a tough batting pitch, our guys could only make 86/8 in the 20 overs. This low total was tough to defend and Raithy reached the target in the 15th over.



Excelsior II vs Klapmuts
The log leaders flex their muscles and finish off Klapmuts away (albeit a close game).
Excelsior II batted first and finished with 144/7 after 20 overs with F Rhoda (36 runs off 31 balls) and T Fredericks (26 runs off 21 balls) tops scoring for the away side.
Klapmuts started their innings well, protecting their wickets and holding on, but losing by only 1 run. Their opening pair top-scored, C Cornelius and R Malan, both 37 runs off 40 balls.
Excelsior II top the league and will move onto the play-offs.

Excelsior I vs Raithby I
We fell short, 3 short.
In a low scoring match against Raithby on 15 February, Excelsior I fell 3 short of a victory.
Put into bat, Raithby I faced a good bowling attack and ended up on 96 all out.
Excelsior I’s batting performance was lacking, losing wickets in regular intervals and fell 3 runs short of the total. Finishing 93 all out.


Excelsior I vs Excelsior II
Upside down, inside out. If you’re not careful, cricket can be cruel (censored version). With all that said, hats off to Excelsior II for beating Excelsior I by 65 runs.
Excelsior II off to a flyer in the Cape Winelands South T20 competition. Opting to bat, Excelsior II posed a formidable 169/6 in their 20 overs with F Rhoda top scoring. The opener scored 47 runs off just 30 balls. Notable contributions by R Poole (31* off 18 balls) and C Thorpe (23* from 15 balls).
Excelsior I’s innings started dismally with the top three batsmen losing their wickets with the total score on 19. D Walbrugh posed some sort of resistance obtaining 23 runs from 23 balls.
The match was played in great spirit and the better team on the day won.
